How to Join

You don't need to sign up for a specific spot. Pull in wherever you can, drive as far as you want, peel off when you need to.

Here's roughly when we expect to reach each town:

  • Minnesota border, Highway 14 - Start time 8:00 a.m.

  • Lake Wilson - 11:00 a.m.

  • Iona - 12:00 noon

  • Brewster - 3:00 p.m.

  • Lakefield (North City Park) - 5:00 p.m.

These are estimates. A caravan moves at the speed of its slowest tractor and stops when somebody needs to stop.

Follow along live on Facebook.

We'll be going live from the road throughout the day and posting exactly where we are. If you're planning to catch us somewhere, check Facebook before you leave the house.

We'll gather at North City Park in Lakefield around 5:00 p.m. Come even if you didn't drive a mile of it. We're happy to connect!

Why Join?

A 765,000-volt transmission line has been proposed across southwest Minnesota — one piece of a 3,631-mile backbone that MISO approved in December 2024.

This is not about being against progress.

It's not about being against data centers, or industry, or a stronger grid.

It's about who pays for it.

The demand driving this line is not coming from here. The benefit is not for us either. What is being forced on us are the towers, the easements, and the shortened rows.

Somebody in a conference room drew a line across ground they have never stood on and decided it was the cheapest place to put it.

Let's make sure they know that plowing over farms in Southwestern Minnesota is NOT the path of least resistance.

This is a lawful, peaceful procession on public roads. Every local law enforcement office along the route has been notified and has given us the green light.

We are not breaking any laws, blocking traffic, occupying property, or obstructing anyone's business.

We are farmers and neighbors driving down a road together, which is the oldest form of speech there is.

What to Expect

The convoy will travel at 15 miles per hour. We are not stopping the whole caravan in every town — we'll be rolling through with brief stops for fuel only.

All vehicles that can travel the convoy speed of 15 mph are welcome. That includes tractors, semis, combines, sprayers, grain trucks, cars, pickups... bring what you've got.

It'll be a long day if you're driving the whole route, so please plan accordingly.

If you're driving, bring a working SMV emblem and functioning lights, a full fuel tank, water, food, and anything else you might need.

We follow every applicable traffic law.

Convoy speed only. No passing. No blocking intersections.

We pull over and let traffic by if it backs up behind us.

Anyone who chooses not to follow traffic laws, or who disrupts this peaceful demonstration in any way, will be asked to leave. That is not negotiable and it is not personal.

We are guests on these roads and we're leaving them the way we found them.

You don't have to be in the caravan to show your support. Stand on a corner and wave us through or bring coffee and sandwiches to a fuel stop. Any local support will be greatly appreciated!

We've got signs ordered, but unfortunately, we won't have them in time to bring along. If you'd like a sign or two send us an email at [email protected] and we'll make sure you get them.

Stay Informed

September 12 is one day, but the permitting of this project could take years to litigate. The route (or project as a whole) still isn't set in stone.

A route permit application is expected early next year, and public hearings are coming before that. Those are the dates that actually decide where this line goes — and most of them get announced with very little notice to the people who live along it. I heard from many people who didn't get the mail invites to the recent open house until the day of the event.

Sign up and we'll make sure you hear about them.

What you'll get:

  • Important updates about the caravan

  • Notice of public hearings, comment deadlines, and filing dates

  • Plain-language updates on where the proceedings stand

That's it. No spam, and we'll never sell or share your information.

Stop the 765 is a grassroots effort by farmers and residents of southwest Minnesota who care about the preservation of our environment and agricultural community.
